In February, the Venerable Master delivered a keynote
speech at
the international conference, "Buddhism into the Year 2000,"
sponsored by the Dhammakaya Foundation of Thailand.

五月，派五位弟子應邀赴中國上海龍華寺，參與傳戒法會。
In May, five of the Venerable Master's monastic disciples went to
Dragon Flower Monastery in Shanghai, China,
to help administer an ordination ceremony.

五月，接受三藩市警局長佐頓任命為「宗教主禮人」。
In May, the Venerable Master was officially sworn in
by Police Chief Frank Jordan
as a Chaplain of the San Francisco Police Department.

八月至九月，應邀赴臺主持「虛老一百五十歲冥誕紀念法會」，
及臺北中正紀念堂「全民念佛祈福消災大法會」等法會。
From August 31 through September 21, upon invitation,
the Venerable Master led a Propagation Delegation to Taiwan,
where he hosted a Dharma Assembly commemorating the 150th year of
Venerable Elder Master Hsu Yun's birthday and
the All Citizens' Buddha Recitation Assembly

to Pray for Blessings and Quell Disasters
at the Chiang Kaishek Memorial Hall in Taipei.
