November. Phuong Guo Wu (shown at left in photo) was an international traveler who had visited almost every country in the world. She and her husband were based in Saigon, where their land holdings and businesses were extensive.

A little while prior to the change of government in Saigon, the Venerable Master placed an unexpected call to Guo Wu, who was at home with her husband at the time. She was surprised at the long distance call and immediately asked if anything was wrong.
“Nothing,” replied the Abbot. It was a simple conversation in which the Master, speaking to both husband and wife, gently suggested that the couple might tie up their affairs and come to America a little sooner if there was nothing particular holding them there.

Guo Wu and her husband did not follow the Master’s suggestion but lingered on in Saigon. As a result of that delay, when the change of government came, more than half of the family holdings were lost.
