Offered in deepest gratitude on the twenty-eighth day
Of the ninth month in the season of Autumn by
Disciple of the Buddha, Chin Bai
City of the Dharma Realm A Buddhist Monastery
Sacramento, California, USA
9.28.03
Daily, he manifests – compassionate and
Wise – His body, the Sangha he left behind –
A vast, heroic robe of seamless kindness –
Billowing light…A patient, open hand –
A thousand eyes…
Silent he walks, but from his mouth…still we hear
The Lion’s Roar give way to gentle speech… Ahhh…his breath of inspiration – fragrant flows
Across an orange and yellow field of bright,
Committed lives…
While tireless – timeless—his unwearied, joyful
Heart (His body, the Sangha he left behind),
Still teaches – still transforms us all – healing,
Urging on…Brave, humble mind – True, hidden sage,
He sows vast, rolling fields with peace…then dares
(Despite besotted, scientific times) to
Go against the tide – to live in virtue –
Teach a simple good.
