Heroes of the times throng the imperial court;
Dharma companions abound in the heavenly garden.
Completely eradicating the bondage of the five destinies,
The bitterness of the four forms of birth is dispelled.
There are three ways to discipline the steed of affection,
And six stations of mindfulness to quieten the simian mind.
In deep courtyards amidst splendid woods,
The tranquility is broken by twittering birds.
When balmy breezes convey the sound of Dharma drums,
Wind chimes jingle on the sunny veranda.
Fresh plum buds have yet to blossom;
Falling osmanthus toss and tumble into heaps.
Morning mist conceals the cobble steps;
The floodgates are steeped in chilly tides.
Only when guidance from a benevolent one is received
Can we cast off our trammels as we wish.
