……主其事的不可以躲懶偷安,不可以隨隨便便願意怎麼樣就怎麼樣,一定要守規矩,一定要守秩序,一定要把自己應該做的事情做好了它。上殿、過堂是照舊;除了上殿、過堂而外,天天都要讀誦戒律的經典,要能讀多少就讀多少,大家在一起來共同讀,共同來把五十三小咒,都要背得出,隨時隨地我會來要大家來背誦的。或者沙彌律、沙彌戒相、比丘四分律、比丘尼的戒律,再加菩薩戒,都要把它熟讀一新,都要能背誦,誰也不可以在這個時候躲懶偷安,又是用其他的理由來塘塞。這是一點!

萬佛聖城於去年9月3日星期日傳授在家菩薩戒;傳戒前於8月31日星期四,9月1日星期五、2日星期六,開課講解在家菩薩戒。方丈和尚恆律師首先講殺戒,繼則按日期先後由比丘尼恆貴師講解淫戒、恆讓師講解酒戒、恆瑞師講解盜戒、恆是師講解恭敬三寶、比丘恆實師講解慈悲,比丘尼恆良師講解妄語戒:最後由恆實師及恆律師講解傳戒儀規。現本刊已整理成文,並譯成英文,下期起將分期陸續刊載,與讀者共同學習。 |

Most importantly, you must not slack off or take it easy. You cannot casually do as you please. You must adhere to the rules and maintain order. You must do a good job of fulfilling your duties. In addition to attending ceremonies and taking your meal in the traditional way, you should recite the Precept Sutras daily, reciting as much as you are able to. Everyone should recite together and memorize the fifty-three mantras. I may come in at any time and ask everyone to recite them from memory. You should also become thoroughly familiar with the Shramanera Vinaya, the Shramanera Precepts, the Fourfold Bhikshu Vinaya, the Bhikshuni Precepts, and the Bodhisattva Precepts. You have to be able to recite them by heart. No one should be lazy or give excuses. That's one point.

Announcement
The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas transmitted the Lay Bodhisattva Precepts on Sunday, September 3 last year. Classes on these precepts were Thursday through Saturday (August 31-September 2) before the transmission. The Abbot, Heng Lyu Shi, began by explaining the precept against killing. Following that, Bhikshuni Heng Gwei Shi explained the precept against lust, Heng Rang Shi explained the precept against intoxicants, Heng Ruey Shi explained the precept against stealing, Heng Shr Shi lectured on how to respect the Triple Jewel, Heng Sure Shi lectured on compassion, and Heng Liang Shi explained the precept against false speech. Finally, Heng Sure Shi and Heng Lyu Shi explained the transmission ceremony. These lectures have been edited and translated into English, and will be published serially starting in the next issue, so that readers may also learn from them. |
