臺灣九二一大地震的消息傳遍全球之際，法界佛教總會在美、加、亞洲多座分支道場相繼舉行法會，不但迴向給臺灣震災的受難者與家屬，也同時迴向給全球各項災難中一切傷亡者。
法界佛教總會創辦人上宣下化老和尚座下僧團，由比丘恆實法師及恆律法師代表，曁兩位居士隨行，自美國搭機於九月二十六日清晨抵臺，爲九二一大地震的受難者與家屬舉行超薦消災法會，讓罹難者得到安寧，受傷民衆早日康復，並爲臺灣祈福消災。
九月二十六日兩位比丘赴臺北市東星大樓災區念誦大悲咒，念完巧遇臺北市長馬英九。馬市長向兩位比丘合掌問訊，感謝他們自美返臺主持祈福消災法會，並說：「法力無邊。」因爲就在當天不久之前，被困一百三十小時的孫氏兄弟在東星大樓瓦礫中奇蹟式獲救。自從地震發生後，孫氏兄弟的母親即在現場跪念觀音菩薩名號，求加持至膝蓋流血，總算皇天不負苦心人，兩兒獲救。
九月二十七日起，兩位比丘在臺北法界印經會主持地藏法會，恆實法師特別指出，大衆同誦《地藏經》的感應力量是很大的。恆實法師及恆律法師也代表法界佛教總會親赴災區探視，攜帶去的舊金山灣區善心人士捐贈的七箱緊急救難藥品，在災區發揮了很大的作用。
他們不但南下高雄前往法界聖寺，也曾赴臺中大坑、東勢等重災區慰問，並在東勢圓通精舍爲死難者舉辦超渡法會，又前往臺中殯儀館念誦《地藏經》。
陪同兩位比丘前往臺中大坑的鄭居士說，九二一大地震當晚，他一直祈求觀音菩薩，不但自己救出五人，他的哥哥也在完全漆黑中，藉著綠色螢光的指引爬出磚瓦堆，並救活父親與妻女。那道帶路的綠色螢光究竟來自何方，至今仍不可解。
恆實法師及恆律法師一行四人已於十月二日返抵美國。
兩位比丘攜帶七大箱緊急救難藥品很受災區醫師歡迎
The two Bhikshus transported seven large boxes of first aid and emergency relief, winning the welcome of doctors in disaster areas.

When news of Taiwan's major earthquake of
September 21st spread around the world, the Dharma Realm
Buddhist Association's branch monasteries in the United
States, Canada and Asia all held Dharma sessions. Not only
did these monastic communities transfer merit and virtue to
the Taiwan earthquake victims and their relatives, but also
to every sufferer of all catastrophes around the globe.
Representing the Sangha established by the Venerable Master
Hsuan Hua, the founder of the Dharma Realm Buddhist
Association, two Bhikshus arrived in Taiwan on the morning
of September 26th. Dharma Masters Heng Sure and Heng Lyu,
accompanied by two laymen flew from the U.S. to Taiwan to
host Dharma sessions to liberate the deceased and quell
disasters. This group led the assembly in requesting safety
and peace for the victims, quick recovery for the wounded,
and an end to tragedies for Taiwan.
When the two Bhikshus arrived at the disaster site of
Taipei's Dongxing Building reciting the Great Compassion
Mantra, they coincidentally ran into the mayor of Taipei, Ma
Ying-jiu. Mayor Ma greeted the two Bhikshus, thanking them
for hosting Dharma sessions to quell disasters and pray for
blessings in Taiwan. The mayor exclaimed, "The power of
Dharma is boundless." That same day, two brothers of the Sun
family were miraculously rescued from the rubbles of the
Dongxing Building after having been trapped for 130 hours.
From the outset of the disaster, the mother of the two Sun
brothers knelt and recited the name of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
seeking help until her knees bled. Heaven never ignores a
sincere plea, so the brothers were rescued.
Starting September 27, the two Bhikshus also hosted theEarth
Store Dharma Assembly at the Dharma Realm Buddhist Books
Distribution Association in Taipei. Dharma Master Heng Sure noted that the strength of
collectively reciting the Earth Store Sutra is especially
immense. Dharma Master Heng Sure and Dharma Master Heng Lyu
also represented the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association to
personally visit disaster areas. The seven boxes of first aid
and emergency medical supplies contributed by San Francisco
BayArea donors were particularly useful in the aftermath of
this historic earthquake.
The Bhikshus not only went southward to the Dharma Realm
Sagely Monastery in Kaohsiong, but also to areas of major
devastation, such as Taichung's Da-keng and Dongshi. In
addition, they conducted Dharma Assembly to Rescue the
Deceased and Wounded at Yuantong Hermitage in Dongshi, then
recited the Earth Store Sutra at the Taichung Funeral Home.
Upasaka Zheng went to Dakeng, Taichung with the two Bhikshus.
The Upasaka had said that when the earthquake struck on the
night of September 21st, he kept praying to Guanyin
Bodhisattva. As a result, he saved five people. Furthermore,
Upasaka Zheng's brother was able to climb out of piles of
bricks in utter darkness and save his father, wife and
daughter by following a green neon light. Even now, no
one knows where that guiding light came from.
The company of four including Dharma Master Heng Sure and
Dharma Master Heng Lyu returned to the U.S. on October 2nd.
