蔡果豪居士，馬來西亞人。小時離家不遠處即有佛教寺廟，常隨母親前去禮佛，和佛教結下不解之綠。1981年上人到馬來西亞弘法，當年才10歲即皈依在上人座下；95年上人入涅槃時到聖城受五戒。91年他的母親到聖城拜萬佛寶懺，即留下剃度。往後時常勸他不要成家，以免情愛所迷，輪迴不休。他深受母親之影響，便萌出家之志，決心到聖城依止上人。
1992年想到聖城，四度簽證末准。自覺業障深重，於是誠心禮佛，並把功德迴向給領事館人員。95年終於如願來到聖城，可是上人也於此時入了涅槃。97年萬緣放下決志出家，再度回到聖城98年9月觀音七時，聖城在上人圓寂後，首度舉行剃度，他卻因常住時間未滿兩年，未能如願。
今年三月為使有心出家者，提前適應僧團生活，聖城開辦「沙彌先修班」，果豪居士順理成章成為先修班之學員。四個多月以來的歷鍊，更堅定他吃苦了苦的信念，每天起早睡晚，投入日常功課及各種法會，盡心竭力參與聖城的維修及環境整理工作；希望能夠福慧兼修，早日圓滿出家之願。

A Malaysian, Upasaka Guohao Cai lived near a Buddhist monastery as a child. He often went with his mother to pay respects to the Buddhas, thus developing lasting affinities with Buddhism.
In 1981, the Venerable Master went to Malaysia to propagate Dharma. Only ten years old at the time, Upasaka Cai took refuge with the Venerable Master. After the Venerable Master entered nirvana in 1995, Upasaka Cai received the five precepts at the Sagely City. In 1991, Upasaka Cai's mother had come to the Sagely City to participate in the Ten Thousand Buddhas Jeweled Repentance. His mother later became ordained here and since then, frequently urges him not to marry. If he becomes lost in sentimental love, then he will never escape the cycle of birth and death. Deeply affected by his mother, Upasaka Cai aspired to become a monk, resolving to reach the Sagely City to follow the Venerable Master.
In 1992, Upasaka Cai had wanted to come to the Sagely City, but his visa application was turned down four times. Feeling that his karmic obstacles were deep and heavy, he continued to sincerely bow to the Buddhas and transfer merit and virtue to the embassy officials. Upasaka Cai finally had his wish come true and arrived at the Sagely City in 1995; by this time, however, the Venerable Master had already entered nirvana. In 1997, he returned to the Sagely City once again, having dropped everything, and deciding to leave the householder's life. During the September Guanyin Session in 1998, the Sagely City ordained candidates for the first time since the Venerable Master's nirvana. Upasaka Cai could not realize his dream immediately, however, because he hadn't lived at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas for two years.
This March, the Sagely City began the Shramanera Training Program for those who intend to become monks. Upasaka Cai joined this program that allows trainees to adjust to monastic life in advance. After more than four months' training, Upasaka Cai has further corroborated his belief that enduring suffering ends suffering. During this period of time, he got up early and retired late, throwing himself into all the ceremonies and all the Dharma sessions and pouring his heart and energy into the maintenance and cleaning up of the Sagely City's surroundings. Through these efforts, Upasaka Cai hopes to cultivate both blessings and wisdom so that he may soon fulfill his wish to leave home.
