CHERISHING YOUTH SUMMER CAMP
A REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEER TEACHERS
Instilling Goodness and Developing Virtue Schools will be holding a Cherishing Youth Summer Camp from July 8 to July 26, 1996 at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Our students come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds and range in age from nine to twelve years. In all our courses and activities we hope to encourage cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. We are looking for volunteer teachers with experience in a wide range of subjects such as ESL, Chinese, arts and crafts, music and drama, debate, and recreational activities. All full-time volunteer teachers will receive free room and board at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas and be able to participate in the daily activities of the monastery.
Qualifications:
1. Volunteer teachers must be in residence at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas from July 1 thru July 28. There will be a one-week teacher orientation before the summer program begins.
2. Volunteer teachers must be of college age or older.
3. Volunteer teachers must abide by the rules of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas.

Application Procedure:
To apply, submit the following:
1. one completed application form
2. a short essay (1 page) describing why you would like to be a
volunteer teacher
3. one letter of recommendation
If possible, it is preferable for the letter of recommendation to be written by a Dharma Master at the local DRBA temple which you attend. For those who do not regularly participate in temple activities, a letter from a work supervisor or teacher can be substituted.
