苑界端法師及謝滿根居士等。他們在萬佛聖城參拜萬佛寶殿之後與大眾一起用齋，並參觀如來寺、法界佛教大學、培德中學、育良小學。 |

(Dateline: Long Beach) On July 21, 1993, Dharma Master Yi Jau, the abbot of Ju Lin (Bamboo Forest) Chan Monastery at Chywan Wan, Hong Kong visited the Venerable Abbot Hsuan Hua at Long Beach Sagely Monastery. On July 23, he traveled north to the Sagely City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. Accompanying him were Dharma Master Jye Dwan of Gu Yen Jing Monastery, Hong Kong and a lay person Hsieh Man-gen, among others. After a visit to the Jeweled Palace of Ten Thousand Buddhas they had a lunch with the Great Assembly, and also visited Tathagata Monastery, Dharma Realm Buddhist University, Developing Virtue High School and Instilling Goodness Elementary School. |
【本刊訊】臺灣台北市原輝實業有限公司董事長王新發先生，在祖炳民教授夫人傳晶女士的引薦下，從華盛頓專程來訪，於七月二十九日中午，抵達柏林根市法界佛
教總會總辦事處拜會宣公上人。
王先生請示一些問題。宣公上人指出「作善降祥，作惡降殃」，並開示王先生平時多閱讀佛經，把善心發真了，行善布施，則一切事皆當順利；否則命中本無而要強求，反而自招禍患。「兒孫自有兒孫福，莫為兒孫作馬牛」，有智慧的人，錢不會留給兒孫；而是把錢用在國家公利事業上，造福更多的人。
上人最後指出－－總要「捨己從公」， 這才是正途。 |

(Dateline: Burlingame) On July 29, 1993 Mr. Wang Syin-fa, President of Ywan Hwei Enterprise Co., Ltd of Taipei, Taiwan, arrived in Burlingame, California from Washington, D.C., to pay a visit to the Ven. Abbot Hua at the headquarters of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association. At the International Translation Institute, Mr. Wang was introduced to the Ven. Abbot Hua by Mrs. John Dzu.
Mr. Wang addressed questions to the Ven. Abbot. The Venerable Abbot pointed out that "when a person practices good deeds, Heaven sends down its blessings; and calamity descends when one does evil." He advised Mr. Wang to read Sutras on a regular basis and to make a genuine resolve to do good deeds. "Find joy in doing charity, and for sure everything will go well. Otherwise, if one craves things that are not your rightful share, then it will bring misfortune." "A family's offspring have their own measure of blessings. Parents shouldn't work as slaves for their children." People with wisdom do not save up money for their children; instead they spend it on public welfare of their community in order to benefit more people.
Lastly, the Ven. Abbot suggested him that the ultimately right road is "to give of yourself for the public good." |
