夏令營的第一天
真棒！要整年住在這裡，我都樂意。這裡的床比家裡的舒適多了。但是食物卻有點奇怪，回家後我一定要吃茄子和白飯。這裡每一個人都很好，但是我覺得自己很笨（因為除了瑪塞爾、朱莉亞及我之外）每人都說中國話，真希望我是個中國人，或最起碼也會說點中國話。每晚，我們都圍成一個圓圈，然後盤起雙腿誦念觀音菩薩的咒語（像是祈禱的詩篇），我差不多都把它們記牢了！
附記：我必須把雙盤練好！

夏令營的第二天
這一篇會短一點，因為我在專心讀一本好書。今天正式上學，麥亞、凱倫和莉莉恩是我的老師。我們有生態學、寫作和戲劇，好極了！我下一次一定要參加四個星期的暑期班。拜託！
這裡有一些小孩，因此我做了瑪莉莎的「大姐姐」，她年七歲很可愛。明天放學我有書法課。每人都很和藹友善，我最好的朋友是凱蒂、邦尼、瑪莉、史達西及可洛依。除可洛依外，她們都講中國話。有一件有趣的事情，當吉蒂和我在洗點心杯子時，我一開水，水龍頭就掉下來了，水噴了三尺高，哈！哈！

夏令營的第三天
我確定要住滿四個星期了！我已經適應這裡的食物，而且覺得很好吃。我上中文書法課，但因為我太差勁了，所以連法師也笑我；然而，它還是很有趣的。我仍舊戴著連頭的牙套，但我是等十點半她們關燈之後才戴上，在她們早上醒來之前就拿下來，所以到目前為止，還沒有人知道，當我睡覺時，我變成一個「外星人」。哈！現在我的雙腿盤起來已經完全不痛了，但是我回家後，我要學〈大悲咒〉。

夏令營的第四天
我不想寫了，因為我想看書；但是我要取得優等文憑，所以……，今天像往常一樣有趣，並且師父有開示。爸爸來，帶我出去吃冰淇淋。上生態學時，我們走了很遠的路，莎莉說：「當你上高中時，你回來幫忙吧！」若能這樣的話，我畢業之後，一定可以找到學生顧問的工作。教我們太極拳的老師有七十二歲了，每個人都被允許打他的肚皮，但他只是笑；我們每隔一天就有半個到一小時的太極拳課。

夏令營的第五天
這是在黑暗中，等一等！我剛剛把手電筒開了。今天是瑪蓮達的生日，我被一群小孩子包圍住，甚至包括瑪塞爾在內，然後我又忙著和瑪莉講話，所以沒有寫，接著就熄燈了。我睡不著，因此就現在寫日記。明早，我要把沒寫完的信完成，這樣明天我才可以把它們寄出去。莎莉很驚奇我已看過「新美國的健康飲食」這部影片，也是我們今天看的。其實我已很累了！我們早上七點就要起來去吃早餐，還要準備上學，所以…晚安！
夏令營的第六天
今天是七月三日，我們去看煙火；我不清楚為什麼要提早一天，但是很好玩。我們到那兒時，琴恩被那個聲音嚇怕了！不過只要拉著我的手，她都認為是很好的。今天我們在外面野餐，然後捏陶器，我很喜歡這一堂課；然後是法師來給我們講故事，如果你想聽的話，我可以告訴你。對不起！寫得很短，但是我得去睡覺了。

夏令營的第七天
我們用力擦洗宿舍，直到它乾淨得發光為止。然後，我們去外面吃匹薩，瑪賽爾把胡椒放在凱蒂的汽水裡！莎莉買了一些白色的T-恤，是明天渲染藝術課要用的。每晚的儀式好像愈來愈短了！我們看了「窈窕淑女」這部影片，很好看（但很老式）附註：我還是喜歡它。

夏令營第八天
我們去遊泳（是莎莉的奶奶，也是瑪塞爾外婆家的遊泳池）。我以前都不知道瑪塞爾和莎莉是表姐妹。
我有一個很壞的消息。離我要走的日子只有三天了！我不想回去，我好喜歡這地方，好喜歡。
琴恩被蚊子咬了三十處！瑪莉莎又發燒。我們早上四點半就起來，去向柏麟告別（她為了上大學要去工作賺錢），不管怎樣，我已很累了！晚安！
夏令營的第九天
我肯定要學中文，一定的！我們今天去採李子。我爬到樹上，把李子丟到籃子裡－好像隻小猴子！（而且還穿著校服）。再過兩天我就要走了，明天是上學的最後一天。瑪莉說最好多開些玩笑，以免她崩潰而哭泣。哈！喔！請讓我下一年再來！晚安！
夏令營的最後一天
我希望我能住下來，但是我猜騎馬營也會很好玩。她們唱「因為她是一個快樂的好夥伴」，我們有蘋果汁、烤麵包，和很多餅乾（來做為餞行）。說到餅乾，爸爸帶來三大袋的餅乾，加上二加侖的蘋果汁做點心。哈！哈！
我長了一顆好大的臼齒。哎唷！邦妮和瑪莉留了這麼多的字條在我衣櫥裡，上面寫著：「請不要離開我們」等，你會看到的！我們都穿上紫色的T-恤、牛仔褲，然後束馬尾去參加儀式。再會！

First Day at Camp
I love it! I'd be perfectly happy to just stay here all year. This bed is more comfortable than at home. The food is a little strange. When I get home I'll be begging for eggplant and rice!
The people here are so nice (everybody). But I feel really stupid--everybody speaks Chinese (except Marcelle, Julia, and me). I wish I was Chinese or at least spoke Chinese. We sit in a circle every night in full lotus and recite Gwan Yin's mantra (it's like a prayer). I almost have it memorized!

2nd Day
This will have to be short because I'm reading a great book! Today we went to school. Maya, Karen, and Lillian are my teachers. We have Ecology, Writing, and Drama. Perfect! I'm definitely coming back next summer for the whole 4 weeks, Please!
There are young kids here, too, so I'm Melissa's "Big Sister" (she's 7 and so cute). Tomorrow I have Chinese Calligraphy after school! Everybody is so nice and friendly, but my best friends are Kitty, Bonnie, Marie, Stacey, and Chloe! They all speak Chinese but Chloe. It's very interesting! Kitty and I were washing snack cups and I turned on the water and off fell the faucet!
Water went up in the air 3 feet! Ha, ha!

3rd Day at camp
I'm definitely staying all 4 weeks. I'm getting used to the food and it's pretty good. I went to Chinese Calligraphy and I was AWFUL. Even the nun laughed at me, but it was fun. I have been wearing my headgear, but putting it on when they turn off the lights at 10:30, and taking it off before they wake. So far no one knows I turn into an alien when I go to sleep! Ha. My full lotus doesn't hurt at all now, but when I get home I want to learn the Great Compassion Mantra.

4th day at camp
I didn't want to write at all because I want to read but I want to get credit for it so....Today was fun like always. Shr fu lectured. Dad took me out for ice cream. We went for a long walk in Ecology and Shari said "You come back and volunteer when you are in High School," so that way I'll be sure to get a job as a "counselor" when I graduate! Our Tai Chi teacher is 72 and everybody got to punch him in the stomach and he just laughed! We have Tai Chi every other day for 1/2 hour to an hour.

5th Day
This is in the Dark. Wait, I just turned on a flashlight. Tonight (all day) was Miranda's Birthday and I tucked in all the little girls—even Marcelle, and then I was too busy talking to Marie to write and then it was lights out, and I couldn't go to sleep so I'm writing my journal now. In the morning I'll do letters. I haven't finished any yet so I'll get them in the mail tomorrow. Shari was surprised that I had seen
Diet for a New America, that's what we saw for a movie tonight! Actually, I am getting tired. We have breakfast at 7:00 and we have to be dressed for school, so....

6th Day.
It's July 3rd and we went to see the fireworks (I'm not sure why a day early, but it was fun). Jean was scared of the noise when we got there, but as long as she was holding my hand she thought it was great. Today we had a picnic outside and then ceramics. I love it. Dharma Master Shih came and told stories, (I can tell you them if you want). Sorry so short but I have to go to sleep.

7th Day.
We scrubbed and scrubbed the dorm until it Shined. Then we went out for pizza and Marcelle put hot pepper in Kitty's Sprite! Then Shari bought white T-shirts for Tie-Dye class tomorrow. Ceremony seemingly gets shorter every night. We watched "My Fair Lady," it was pretty good (But Very Old Fashioned).

8th Day
We went swimming!!! (At Shari's Grandma's pool, also Marcelle's Grandma's pool) I didn't know Marcelle and Shari were cousins.
I have terrible news. Only 3 more days till I leave. I don't want to go back. I like it so much here--so much.
Jean has 30 mosquito bites! Melissa has a fever! We woke up at 4:30 to say goodbye to Berling (She's going to a job (to earn) for money for college), anyway I'm exhausted. Goodnight.
9th Day.
I have got to learn Chinese! Definitely! We went plum picking today! I climbed up the trees and threw the plums down in buckets—like a monkey! (and in my school clothes). I have to leave in two days. Tomorrow is my last day of school. Marie said it's better to joke about it so she doesn't break down and cry! Ha, ho!
Please let me come back next year!

The Last Day.
I wish I could stay, but I guess horse (equestrian) camp will be fun, too. They sang "For she's a jolly good fellow." We had sparkling cider, toast, and a lot of cookies for the road! Speaking of cookies, Dad brought 3 giant bags of cookies + 2 gallons of apple juice for snack! Ha, ha!
I have a big molar coming in. Ouch! Bonnie + Marie left millions of notes in my dresser "Please don't leave us! etc." You'll see! We all wore purple T-shirts, jeans, and ponytails to Ceremony.
