【臺灣臺北訊】 一月三日至一月十八日，宣公上人率團一行四十五人赴臺灣訪問兩週。
一月九日晚上七時至九時，十日下午二時至四時，在國立臺灣工業技術學院體育館的兩場講座，宣公上人主講「現代人心、行為、品德」、「科哲學的進步」，吸引了數以千計的青年學生。
自十一日起至十七日，由宣公上人主持為期七天的「為世界和平，為人類謀幸福，啟建楞嚴大悲，傳授三皈五戒大法會」，在板橋臺北縣立體育館隆重展開，平均每天有三千人參加。
十七日，恰逢週日，法會現場大爆滿，當天下午一時三十分傳三皈五戒，晚上七時三十分傳授幽冥戒，一天下來，估計約有一萬人左右。

(Taipei) Venerable Master Hua led a delegation of forty-five people to visit Taiwan during the two weeks from January 3rd to 18th. From 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on January 9th, and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on January 10th, in the gymnasium of the National Taiwan Industrial Technology Institute, the Venerable Master lectured on "The Mind, Behavior and Virtue of Modern People" and "The Development of Science and Philosophy," attracting several thousand students.
From January 11 to 18, the Venerable Master Hua hosted a Great Dharma Assembly to Pray for World Peace and Blessings for Humanity at the Taipei County Gymnasium in Ban-chyau. It included the recitation of the Shurangama Mantra and Great Compassion Mantra and the transmission of the Three Refuges and the Five Precepts. An average of three thousand people participated each day. On Sunday, the seventeenth, the Three Refuges and Five Precepts were transmitted at 1:30 in the afternoon, and the Precepts for the Deceased were transmitted at 7:30 in the evening. That day, there were approximately ten thousand participants.

【臺北訊】一月八日下午二時，在臺北法界佛教印經會，由宣公上人主持剃度儀式，吸引了上千名善信前來觀禮。在三十八位披剃的弟子中，男眾有十位，女眾有二十八位。可貴的是有一對年齡僅十一、二歲的小兄弟，是來自印尼的華僑，雖小小年紀便立此宏願，實在是宿世善根所致。

(Taipei) At 2:00 p.m. on January 8, at the Dharma Realm Buddhist Books Distribution Society in Taipei, the Venerable Master Hua hosted a Leaving Home Ceremony which attracted over a thousand faithful spectators. Of the thirty-eight people who had their heads shaved, ten were men and twenty-eight were women. Auspiciously, two Chinese brothers from Indonesia, aged eleven and twelve, made the great vow to leave the home-life, certainly a sign of the good roots they planted in past lives.
