RECITATION AND MEDITATION SESSION OCTOBER 18TH THROUGH 25TH One half hour of chanting and one half hour of sitting alternately from 4:00 AM until 10:00 PM each day for seven days. The chanting will be devoted to Avalokitesvara, Bodhisattva of Compassion, in honor of the anniversary of the day this great Bodhisattva left the home life. During the week the anniversaries of the days the Great Master Ch'ang Jen and the Venerable Master Hsuan Hua left the home life, and the anniversary of the enlightenment of the Great Master Ch'ang Chih, will also be celebrated. Holding a mantric phrase, the name of the Bodhisattva, with single-minded attention, while chanting and while seated in stillness, is a far-reaching meditation practice, which can bring great benefit to beginners and adepts alike. When the clear water pearl is thrown in muddy water the water turns clear. When the Buddha's name enters a deluded mind, that mind becomes the Buddha. Dhyana Master Hua All serious cultivators are welcome. For information write to Gold Mountain Monastery |
