Bhiksuni Shih Tai Ching was born in Liao Ling, China. After graduating from school, while she was still young, she left the home-life.
In the fourth month of 1943 she left the home-life under Master Ch'eng Ming. She
received the Complete Precepts of the Thousand Buddhas at China's Long Yen Monastery in Liao Ling where her Precept Master was the Venerable Chieh Ts'an. While in Hong Kong, Bhiksuni Tai Ching served as Managing Director of the Avatamsaka-Lotus Society. In her desire to speak the compassionate teaching of the Buddha, she has traveled extensively all over the world, to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Hawaii. Bhiksuni Tai Ching has presently taken up residence in San Francisco with an eye to propagating the Dharma in the West. |
