Wen Chi: A transformation body of
Manjushri Bodhisattva #71

      The Master asked people whom he met where Wen Chi lived, but no one even knew who he was. Later, the Master met an elder Bhikshu who said, "According to what the Venerable Master has told me, this Wen Chi is a transformation body of Manjushri Bodhisattva." When the Master heard this, it was if he had awakened from a dream. He immediately bowed to the Bodhisattva in sincere gratitude.

The Gatha says:

      A transformation body of Manjushri was just the beggar Wen Chi.
      They were together for three full months
      Yet the Master did not know.
      It seems unlikely but the elder Bhikshu pointed it out to him.
      He couldn't have come an arm's length closer
      To bowing to Manjushri himself.
