The Master’s virtue moved young Americans, gently subduing their strong sense of independence and concept of “freedom,” so that they willingly learned simple Buddhist rituals such as reciting Buddha’s and Bodhisattva’s names. Shown here, they follow the monks and nuns in circumambulation.
