宣公上人，六Ｏ年代隻身赴美前，雖未曾學習英文，憑其艱忍不拔的毅力，悲智雙運宣揚正法，感動許多美國弟子跟隨出家受戒，還成立國際譯經學院，將上百卷大乘佛經翻譯成英文等多國語言，潤澤群生。

上人創辦法界佛教總會，座下萬佛聖城、法界聖城等道場三十多處，安僧利生；又成立法界佛教大學及培德中學、育良小學等教育機構，培育英才。其教化源遠流長，超越國界，為佛教史寫下光輝不可磨滅的一頁。
