祈雨的人們輪流念誦觀世音菩薩聖號及求雨的咒語。講法開示因果的基本道理：「為什麼不下雨？因為我們太自私、貪心及浪費水。如果我們承認自己的過錯，並誠心地懺悔，就會有感應。」參與的大眾人數逐漸增加，大家在一起唱誦、禮拜。當大家念求雨的咒語時，天空開始滿佈烏雲，風也刮起來了。

Recitation of Guanyin Bodhisattva’s name (the Bodhisattva who hears the sounds of the world) and of the special mantra for seeking rain were done alternately. Dharma talks explained simple principles of cause and effect.
“Why hasn’t it rained? Because we have been too selfish and greedy and we have wasted water. If we admit our mistakes and change, the sincerity of our repentance and reform can evoke a response.” The crowd of participants grew and joined in the chanting, kneeling, and prostra-tions. Even while the mantra for seek-ing rain was being recited the clouds gathered and the wind picked up.
