In 1990, I went to The Sagely City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to attend the recitation of Buddha’s name session. One night during the session, I was at the office. Venerable Master called me to another small room. I told Venerable Master how I usually cultivate. Venerable Master then asked me whether I know how to sit in meditation. I answered, Yes. Before this incident, I could not sit in full lotus. For the past ten over years, I only sat in meditation in half lotus.
The Master was sitting on a chair and he immediately sat in full lotus. When I saw the Master doing so, I immediately follow suit and sat in full lotus. The Master said,
“You also can sit in full lotus already!” From then on, I always sat in meditation in full lotus. Furthermore, I found it much more comfortable and the longer I sit the longer it lasts. In addition, I can reach a kind of pure state. If I wanted to change back to half lotus, it would not be possible.
The Master’s sentence may be ordinary to an outsider but I know this is the compassionate kindness and aid from Venerable Master.
